Backwards Thinking

This quote from the BBC in an article about how Britons are more skeptical about climate change than they were five years ago:

The survey, by Cardiff University, shows there is still some way to go before the public's perception matches that of their elected leaders.

I hope I don't have to point out to anyone how sickeningly backwards this statement is.
